Plant-Based Pittsburgh (also named Food for Health) is an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) organization. Our mission is to provide education and ongoing support about how to adopt and sustain plant-centered eating habits. We strive to build a "community of health" based on the practice of whole food, plant-based (WFPB) food choices, i.e. grains, legumes, vegetables, and fruits, and with minimal processed foods, sugar, oil, and salt. We are an independent member organization of the Physicians Commitee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM) Pod network.

As a hub for the greater Pittsburgh area, we offer:

  • Meetings & Cooking Classes at Pittsburgh-area locations and online events: see our YouTube channel.  Whether new or experienced with plant-based lifestyle, all are welcome. Come and meet others who are learning and benefiting from plant-centered eating; you'll receive helpful information, support, and plant-based camaraderie! [Please, no sales pitches.]

  • Newsletter each month to share events, recipes, and information for the Pittsburgh-area plant-based community. Sign up for future newsletters and see Index of Topics from past newsletters.

  • Directory listing healthcare practitioners & coaches, instructors, stores, products, community groups, and other services related to plant-based nutrition in Western Pennsylvania.

  • Community Outreach to physicians, healthcare providers and patients; libraries, community centers and organizations; conferences and festivals.
